onelikeyou asked: Really? Thanks for the advice. I feel like I try and try and I'm just not good at poetry so I'm not good and song writing.
poppycock!
Writing is like anything else. It takes practice. No one is naturally good at it. Sure someone can have a predispositioned knack for it. But it takes trying until that millionth time.
I’ve been attempting to write for years, and what i was writing a couple years ago is shit compared to the crap I write now. I’ve improved over time, and will continue to do so for the rest of forever. And one day my work will be mediocre. And who knows, maybe it’ll be publishable.
The same goes for you. You may think what you do now is crap. And hell, it might be (though I highly doubt it). But the more you keep at it and just write what you feel and wonder and know and love, then you’ll see yourself get better.
Basically, what I’m trying to say is:
1. You need to have passion.
2. You need to practice.
You practice by writing all the fucking time. and reading. a lot.
sorry for the lengthiness. But I have faith in you.
